    Here is a 5-day Desert tour through Morocco, starting from the northern city of Tangier and ending in the lively city of Marrakech. First off, we will explore Tangier& Chefchaouen, then drive to Fes via the Rif Mountains. Following our local tour in Fes, we will leave for Marrakech via the Sahara Desert of Merzouga & High Atlas Mountains.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes

    On the first day of our 5-day tour from Tangier, we will travel through the Rif Mountains to the popular blue city of Chefchaouen. When in Chefchaouen, we will explore its photogenic medina. After our nice visit, we shall continue our journey to the imperial city of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. At nightfall, we will be at a nice & cozy Riad for the night.

    Day 2Fes – Local Tour of the Old Medina & Modern City

    Our second day is dedicated to discovering the rich and long history of Fes with a local tour guide. First of all, we will explore every corner of ancient Fes el-Bali ( Old medina), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its narrow, yet impressive cobble-stoned alleys, Souks, and well-decorated walls & gates. Next, we will visit the main landmarks there, namely Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest university in the world and Bou Inania Madrasa as well as the Royal Palace. In the late afternoon, we will explore the new part of the city of Fes. Our overnight stay will be at the Riad in Fes.

    Day 3Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

    On this day, we will Leave Fes and drive south via the Middle Atlas Mountains, Ifrane (nicknamed “Little Switzerland”) and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild monkeys as well as Cross the Ziz Valley  to arrive eventually in Erg Chebbi dunes next to Merzouga village. Once there, we will enjoy a unique camel ride into the Sahara across the golden dunes. We will enjoy a wonderful sunset, take pictures and then spend a calm night in a traditional desert camp under the stars.

    Day 4Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

    On the fourth day of our tour, we will get up early to witness a magical sunrise over the Desert dunes, and then head over towards the impressive Todra Gorges, a nice corner for climbers and nature lovers. After that, we will continue via the gorgeous landscape of the Dades Valley with its dramatic rock formations and Berber Kasbahs along the road. By nightfall, we will arrive at the guesthouse in Dades valley and spend the night there.

    Day 5Dades Gorges – Kelaat Mgouna – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

    On the final day of our 5-day Desert tour from Tangier via the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, we wll drive through the Valley of Roses  to Kelaat Mgouna, a small town known for its roses and rose products. Next, we will explore the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO site and a popular filming location in Morocco. Following that, we will cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains and make a stop at  Tizi n’Tichka Pass before arriving in Marrakech, where our amazing journey concludes

    How long does the camel ride last?

    It usually takes one hour or one hour and a half and it is fun experience, as you can also take pictures.

    What should I wear for the camel ride?

    There is no specific outfit for that; however, make sure you wear comfortable clothing and a scarf, as the sun could be a little too hot.

    Is the accommodation in the desert comfortable?

    Yes, standard and luxury desert camps are super comfortable. Both include private tents with private bathrooms and delicious local Moroccan meals
