After our nice visit, we shall continue our journey to the imperial city of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. At nightfall, we will be at a nice & cozy Riad for the night.
Our second day is dedicated to discovering the rich and long history of Fes with a local tour guide. First of all, we will explore every corner of ancient Fes el-Bali ( Old medina), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its narrow, yet impressive cobble-stoned alleys, Souks, and well-decorated walls & gates. Next, we will visit the main landmarks there, namely Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest university in the world and Bou Inania Madrasa as well as the Royal Palace. In the late afternoon, we will explore the new part of the city of Fes. Our overnight stay will be at the Riad in Fes.
On this day, we will Leave Fes and drive south via the Middle Atlas Mountains, Ifrane (nicknamed “Little Switzerland”) and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild monkeys as well as Cross the Ziz Valley to arrive eventually in Erg Chebbi dunes next to Merzouga village. Once there, we will enjoy a unique camel ride into the Sahara across the golden dunes. We will enjoy a wonderful sunset, take pictures and then spend a calm night in a traditional desert camp under the stars.
On the fourth day of our tour, we will get up early to witness a magical sunrise over the Desert dunes, and then head over towards the impressive Todra Gorges, a nice corner for climbers and nature lovers. After that, we will continue via the gorgeous landscape of the Dades Valley with its dramatic rock formations and Berber Kasbahs along the road. By nightfall, we will arrive at the guesthouse in Dades valley and spend the night there.
