The name “Ouzoud” comes from the Berber word for “olive,” and as you get closer to the waterfalls, you’ll see thay the area is filled with ancient olive groves, lush greenery, and breathtaking natural beauty. The waterfalls themselves are magical with multiple cascades. The constant mist from the waterfalls creates rainbows on sunny days, adding to the beauty of the place.
This destination is your chance to immerse yourself in Morocco’s rich natural environment, interact with friendly local villagers, and take pictures of the playful Barbary monkeys that live in the trees there.
Our adventure starts with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech early in the morning, and then we are going to drive in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. On the road, we will enjoy the charming views of the countryside of Morocco. Also, we will pass through olive farms, Berber villages, and hills, A peaceful change of scenery as we drive further.
We will arrive in Ozoud Waterfalls 3 hours of later. Here, we will begin our guided hike through the magical landscape. The trail takes us down to the base of the waterfalls. As we go down, we will have several fantastic viewpoints for photos and moments of relaxation. In addition to that, we will encounter vendors selling fresh orange juice, handmade objects, and local Moroccan souvenirs. You may also be greeted by groups of monkeys, who are known for their curious and playful nature.
Once at the bottom of the gorge, you could take a short boat ride. It’s a fun and wonderful experience.
After exploring the area, we are going to enjoy a delicious Moroccan lunch at some local restaurant overlooking the waterfalls, and then we will have some free time to relax, take more photos, or hike back up at our own pace. In the late afternoon, we will drive back to Marrakech, probably arriving around 6:30–7:00 PM.
