Join us to escape the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and journey into the breathtaking landscapes of the Agafay Desert, loacated on the outskirts of Marrakech. Agafay is a rocky desert; it offers a memorable day of tranquility, adventure, and panoramic views. Unlike the sandy dunes of the Sahara of Merzouga & Zagora, Agafay is known for its golden hills and moon-like terrain, making it a perfect choice for a short desert experience near Marrakech. Whether you want to try a camel ride, quad biking, or a relaxing lunch under a Berber tent, this day trip is a blend of comfort and a true taste of Morocco’s wilderness.
The Agafay Desert is an ideal destination for travelers who want to experience the magic of the desert without having to travel a long road. Its proximity to Marrakech makes it perfect for a 1-day trip, and yet it feels like another world. The dramatic landscapes, peaceful atmosphere, and luxury desert camps make it a haven for nature lovers, couples, families, and photographers alike.
On this special day, we are going to depart from Marrakech. Our driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. On the way, we are going to enjoy a unique drive through the outskirts of the city as the landscape gradually changes to hills and stony plains & stop to take some pictures before our Arrival in Agafay Desert.
Upon our arrival, we will take a moment to enjoy the striking views of this desert and explore the area on foot, then ride a camel through the rocky dunes, or try a quad bike for a thrilling ride (optional activity). After that, we will visit a Traditional Berber Camp, enjoy a warm welcome at a local camp and then learn about the Berber culture as well as sip a glass of mint tea, and finally relax under a shaded tent while savoring every moment of the serenity of the desert. Following that, we are going to have Lunch at at a restaurant overlooking an amazing View, savor a delicious Moroccan lunch ( tajine, salads, and fresh bread) served in the heart of that magical desert. After lunch, there is optional activities that you could try. For instance, Swimming (at Luxury Camp) or you can just relax, take photos, or enjoy more desert activities like sandboarding or a short hike through the area. Later in the day, we are going back to Marrakech and we will drop you off at your Riad/ Hotel and our 1-day excursion from Marrakech to Agafay and back ends.

I didn’t have time to go all the way to the Sahara, so Agafay was the perfect choice. It’s quiet, beautiful, and has its own charm. The driver was punctual, the camel ride fun, and the Berber hospitality heartwarming. Highly recommend for a quick desert adventure.
We took our kids and they loved it! The camels were gentle, the lunch was fresh and tasty, and we even had time to relax under the tent with mint tea. It’s a great way for families to experience Moroccan culture and nature in one day
I tried quad biking and it was such a thrill! Then we slowed down with tea in a Berber tent, watching the hills in complete silence. It’s rare to find a place that offers both adrenaline and tranquility in one day
The golden hills of Agafay look like something from a movie. I especially enjoyed meeting the locals at the Berber camp—they were so welcoming. Our guide made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves.
As a photographer, Agafay blew me away. The textures, the colors, the light—it’s perfect for capturing Morocco’s beauty. The team was professional and gave us plenty of time for photos at each stop. I’ll be coming back with more gear next time!
